What we do

One crew for chimneys and ducts, working out of Readington Township

Chimney sweeping and repair on one side, air duct and dryer vent cleaning on the other. Camera in hand before anything gets touched, on either job. Book either trade on its own, or both in a single stop if your fireplace and your dryer vent both need attention.

Chimney sweeping, inspection and repair

Camera-verified sweeping, Level 1 or Level 2 inspection, and repair of crowns, caps, flashing, and liners, matched to wood, oil, or gas.

  • How we inspect

Every flue gets a camera pass first

Every flue gets a camera pass before the first brush goes in, and you watch the same screen we do. NFPA 211 calls for a chimney inspection at least once a year. It calls for a Level 2 inspection, which adds a video scan of the flue, when the system changes, when the home is sold, or after a chimney fire or other event that may have damaged it.

  • Repairs

We repair what the camera finds

A cracked crown or damaged flashing lets water into a chimney long before smoke backs into the room. We repair the crown, cap, flashing or liner the camera shows is failing.

Air duct and dryer vent cleaning

We clear lint from the whole dryer run, wall to hood, clean air ducts, and tell you straight if your ducts need cleaning at all.

  • Air & dryer

A dryer that needs three cycles for one load, or ducts nobody has opened since the house was built. We clean the run and tell you plainly if duct cleaning is worth paying for.

Chimney anatomy

Four parts, from the roof line down into the flue

What each part of a masonry chimney is, from the top of the stack down to the channel the smoke travels through.

Crown
The concrete slab across the top of the masonry. It sheds rain away from the bricks and the flue.
Cap
The cover over the flue opening. It keeps rain, animals and debris out of the flue.
Flashing
The metal seal where the chimney passes through the roof, lapped into the shingles around it.
Liner
The channel inside the chimney that carries smoke and exhaust gases up and out of the house.

  • Patrick L.

Work was carried out by an expert who knew just what proportions of air to fuel were required for a brick fireplace system to burn cleanly.

  • Alessia L.

It was no longer a strong pick. The service fixed the damper and got rid of the sticky creosote. Now it's easy to start fires and they burn constantly. Every time we light it, we can see the difference.

  • EfexTimeGOD

Top-notch service! They showed up right on time, which is rare these days. The technician took the time to explain everything and showed me exactly how much soot was clogging the flue. Fast, clean, and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be using them every year from now on!

How a visit works

The four steps of every job

A routine sweep and a repair the camera turns up follow the same four steps.

  1. Call or request an estimate

Describe what’s going on (smoke pushing back, a damper that won’t move, a dryer taking three cycles) and we’ll tell you which visit you need.

  2. Camera goes down first

Before any brush touches the flue, the camera runs its length and the picture goes to a monitor you can see for yourself.

  3. The work you agreed to

Brushes and a HEPA vacuum for a sweep, or the repair the camera found: crown, cap, flashing, or liner.

  4. Photos and a clear answer

Before-and-after photos are yours to keep, and anything else the camera turned up gets explained in plain language before it ever shows up on an invoice.

Common questions

Questions before you call

Do you serve all eleven counties from one location?

Yes, the crew works out of Readington Township and reaches homes across Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Morris, Union, Essex, Monmouth, Hudson, Passaic, Bergen, and Camden counties.

How often does a chimney need sweeping?

NFPA 211 calls for an inspection at least once a year, since the buildup that causes a chimney fire is rarely visible from inside the room.

I don’t burn wood. Do I still need a chimney sweep?

Yes. In Readington Township alone, 1,281 households heat with fuel oil and another 297 with LP gas, and those flues get no utility inspection the way a gas main does. A camera pass is the only way to see inside one.

Do you clean air ducts and dryer vents, or just one?

Both, and they’re different jobs. Dryer vent cleaning clears lint from the wall to the outside hood. Air duct cleaning covers the supply and return runs of your heating and cooling system. If your ducts don’t need it, we’ll say so.

What happens if the sweep finds a problem?

You see it on the camera monitor first, and it gets photographed. Nothing gets repaired without you knowing what the camera found and why.
